Description
Thamesdown Borough Council, the predecessors to Swindon Borough Council, first commissioned a leisure centre for West Swindon as early as 1970, but it wasn't until 12 years later that the ground was broken in preparation for its construction.  The Link Centre, beside Whitehill Way, was designed by the council's in-house architect K P Sherry and features a mast and cable-stayed construction similar to that used in the nearby former Renault Distribution Centre, designed by Foster + Partners.

The facilities offered by the Link Centre include a library, 25 metre swimming pool, an ice rink, a gym, badminton courts and a climbing wall.
