Description
The Middlesex Street Estate is composed of a twenty-three-storey tower block and a square of family flats and bedsits arranged around a landscaped podium. The estate also has a community centre. Pevsner says of the estate that it is, "Very hard and very urban, even by the standards of the time.  Aggressive six-storey outer ranges of partially stepped section in black engineering brick, there dominent motif fiddly slotted concrete balconies." I have seen it referred to elsewhere as, "...a poor man's Barbican Estate."
