Reuters & Press Association Building - 85 Fleet Street, London, UK

Architect
Sir Edwin Lutyens
Date Built
1934 - 1938
Location
85 Fleet Street
Description
A very recognizable Lutyens creation, reminiscent of his Midlands Bank on King Street in Manchester.  Built for the Press Association, as indicated by the initials carved above a window near the top of the building (see below).  It was also home to the Reuters News Agency.  The Press Association left in 1995 and Reuters a decade later.  Pevsner says of the building that until you look up you don't discover, " .. the fun the architect has had at the top: a recessed structure with concave front and pedimented extremities, crowned by a broad circular drum without a dome."

A statue of "Fame" sits in the circular "window" above the Fleet Street entrance.
