Description
The Fisher Building was the first student accommodation to be built west of the river in Cambridge.  It was originally made up of 82 two-room sets clustrered around five staircases.  Apparently the building "floats" on a concrete raft supported by 120 piles.  The college website says that Fisher now provides, "... 79 rooms occupied by a combination of Fellows, undergraduates, and a few postgraduate students. The majority of rooms are sets i.e. a study with a separate bedroom, with the lower three floors being shared sets occupied by second year undergraduates. The attic sets are for single occupation and are taken by undergraduates or occasionally by postgraduate students.  The shared sets all have en-suite shower rooms whilst the attic sets on the third floor share facilities between each group of four."
