Description
The Central Theatre on Akergata in central Oslo has a long history, in fact it first opened in 1897.  Over the years it has undergone a number of conversions and a variety of uses.  The present building dates from 1934 and has been  described as displaying an "elegant fun-filled character."  Apparently, from 1963 until 1969 the premises were used as a television studio for NRK and then later as a bingo hall.  In 1971 Oslo Nye Theatre took over operation.
