McDougall and Cowans Building, Montreal, Canada

Architect
J Cecil McDougall
Date Built
1929
Location
Corner of Notre Dame and Saint Francois-Xavier Streets
Description
This Art Deco building was commissioned by the Anglo-American Trust Company owned by the brokerage firm McDougall & Cowans who occupied the first two floors of the building.  Apparently, the owners had little luck in letting the rest of the building during the Depression but remained as occupants until the 1950s.

The building is decorated with bas-relief sculptures by Henri Hébert.
