This Grade II Listed building
sits behind the Senate House on the edge
of Russell Square.
It was built between 1913 and
1914 to a design by the practice of Sir
John Burnet & Partners. When
listed it was described as being of brown
brick with stone dressings. A statue
of Sir Joseph Preistley sits above the
entrance.
The
front of the building is 7 windows
wide and there are a further 3 windows
on the side of the building that faces
Russell Square.
Of
the windows the listing notes say, "...
Square-headed,
recessed sash windows, those
right of the entrance round-headed
in shallow arched recesses with
keystones and linked by stone
impost bands. Sash above entrance
round-headed with carved stone
wreath in head. 1st floor windows
to left of door with stone sill
band and balconies. 3rd
floor stone sill band."
