As we move south from
Plymouth Grove West the Daisy Mill dominates the
road. When I was a child the Plymouth pub stood on
the corner of Upper Plymouth Grove and beside it was a
row of shops including Shelmerdine's. Beyond the
Daisy Mill the site of the Wesylian Methodist Church has
been occupied by an Islamic Education Centre. On
the west side of the road Longsight Police Station once
stood inside high walls. Today the modern police
station stands on the same site. Beyond Grindlow
Street a number of large detached houses and a prominent
terrace of 3 storey houses had been convered to
commercial premises in the 50s. Today most of them
are gone to be replaced by a green space. Please Click on a
