St. Roberts School has now been demolished.  In its day it counted among its pupils Noel Gallagher.

The 1996 OFSTED Report on St. Robert's School described it as follows:

"There are 162 pupils in St. Robert's RC Primary school, 72 boys and 90 girls. The school is situated near a large inner-city estate, an area of considerable social and economic need. The number of pupils entitled to free school meals is very high (about 68%). The character of the area is changing and there are now less Catholic families moving into the estate, which is affecting the school roll. The attainment levels of pupils on entry to the school are below average and there are 51 pupils currently on the school's register of special educational needs, 5 of them on stage 3. The school's mission statement strongly emphasises its aim of basing all action and behaviour on Gospel values. Religious education and worship are an integral part of a curriculum which is designed to be broad, balanced and relevant to the needs of the pupils. The school values the importance of relationships in helping the pupils to fully realise their own abilities and to appreciate those of others."
