The Ducie
Arms
When I first
created this web site the Ducie Arms was one of the
relatively few pubs still open for business in
Longsight. By 2008, as you can see from the
photograph below, the Ducie is closed and
boarded-up.
By 2016 it was much worse.
The
Ducie sat near the junction of Plymouth Grove and
Stockport Road next door to Longsight Hall, which
once had the Longsight Library attached to it.
It is indicated by the red arrow on the aerial
photograph below, dated 1953.
I
remember that there was a toyshop called Highways
near the Ducie in the 50s, and across Stockport Road
there was a car display room for Auto-Union Cars
which I think went on to be Audi.
